Privacy notice

What we collect from an enquiry, why we collect it, how long we keep it, and how to make us stop.

Last updated: 1 October 2026. This notice explains how MaarketLab Academy (operated by MaarketLab Consultancy, Co No 202603109017 (KT0612804-A), Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia) handles personal data collected through maarketlab.com. It reflects the Personal Data Protection Act 2010 (Malaysia), as amended. It is written to be read, not to be skipped — if anything here is unclear, ask us and we will explain it.

What we collect

We only collect data you give us, plus the technical detail that tells us which page or channel brought you here.

  • Enquiry form: your name, WhatsApp number, highest academic qualification, profession, exam status, preferred intake, any papers you have already sat, email address if you choose to give it, and your message.
  • Newsletter signup: your email address — and, only if you also ticked the separate optional box on the enquiry form, your name, profession, qualification and chosen intake, so that what we send you fits what you do.
  • Attribution detail: the page you enquired from, the campaign parameters in the link you clicked (utm_*), the advertising click identifier where present (gclid, fbclid), and the referring site. This is what lets us answer “which video or page produced this enquiry” instead of guessing.
  • WhatsApp: if you message us, the conversation is held by WhatsApp under their terms, not ours. We read it and reply.
  • Measurement: if you agree to it, our analytics and advertising tags record page views and events through cookies or similar storage.

We do not ask for, and do not want, your identity card number, financial account details, or any special-category personal data. Please do not send those.

Why we collect it

  • To answer your enquiry and give you a route map that fits your qualification and profession.
  • To contact you about the programme, the intake you asked about, and the examination timetable — by WhatsApp, phone or email.
  • To send you study tips, exam dates and intake news — only if you asked for them, and only once you have confirmed from your own inbox.
  • To understand which channels and content actually bring candidates, so we spend our time where it works.
  • To keep a record of enquiries and enrolments for our own accounting and administrative purposes.

Consent, and how to withdraw it

You give consent when you tick the box on the enquiry form or message us on WhatsApp. You can withdraw it at any time at no cost: message us on WhatsApp 017-367 9623 or email thongchiwah@gmail.com and say you would like to be removed. We will stop contacting you and delete what we do not need to keep. Withdrawing consent does not affect anything that happened before you withdrew.

The newsletter is a separate choice. The box that adds you to our mailing list is optional and unticked by default, and you can enquire — or ask about fees — without it. When you tick it we email you once to confirm, and you are only on the list after you click that link. Every email we send carries a one-click unsubscribe: no log in, no fee, and no “are you sure?”. When you withdraw consent, the email stops and so do the WhatsApp messages and our advertising audiences — we do not leave one channel running behind the others. We aim to action a withdrawal within 48 hours.

Cookies and measurement

Measurement tags are only loaded if you agree. When you first arrive, a short notice appears asking you to agree or to choose essential-only; if you choose essential-only, our analytics and advertising tags do not run. You can change your mind at any time:

The attribution detail described above is held in your own browser’s session storage, under our domain, for the length of that visit. It is not a tracking cookie and it is cleared when you close the browser tab.

Who else sees your data

  • Our website host (Netlify) stores and forwards form submissions to us. This is where an enquiry lands before we read it.
  • Our mailing service (Brevo) holds the newsletter subscriber records and sends those emails. For each subscriber it keeps the wording you agreed to, the date you confirmed it, and — only if you ticked the box — the profession and qualification you gave us, so we can send material that fits. It does not use your data for anyone else’s marketing, and we can remove you from it completely on request.
  • Google and Meta receive measurement events, only once you have agreed to measurement, and only for measuring and for showing our own advertising to people who have already shown interest in the programme. We do not sell your data and we do not pass it to third parties for their own marketing.
  • WhatsApp (Meta) carries your messages if you choose to contact us there.

We do not sell, rent or trade personal data. We disclose it only to the service providers above, or where the law requires it.

How long we keep it

Enquiry records are kept while you might still enrol, and for a reasonable period afterwards so we can answer questions about an intake you were part of. If you ask us to delete your record and we have no legal or accounting reason to keep it, we delete it. We do not keep data we cannot explain a use for.

Newsletter records are kept for as long as you stay subscribed. If you unsubscribe, your email address is kept only as a suppression record — a note that we must not write to you again — so that a mistake cannot put you back on the list.

Your rights

Under the Personal Data Protection Act 2010 you may ask to see the personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to stop using it for a particular purpose, or withdraw consent to its use. Write to thongchiwah@gmail.com from the address you gave us, or message us on WhatsApp from the same number, and describe what you want. We will respond within a reasonable period.

Security

The site is served over HTTPS. Access to enquiry records is limited to the people who need it in order to reply to you and administer the programme. No transmission over the internet is perfectly secure — but we do not hold financial details or identity documents, which is deliberate.

Children

The programme is for adults preparing for a professional examination. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18 without the consent of a parent or guardian.

Changes to this notice

If we change how we handle personal data we will update this page and change the date at the top. Material changes that affect people who have already enquired will be communicated directly.
